2009-08-17
One of our recent productions, "17th of August" directed by Alexander Gutman, took part in Semaine de la critique competition at the 62. Locarno Film Festival. The world premiere of the film took place on the 12th of August.
The film tells a story of a one day of the Russian prisoner, sentenced for 3 murders to harsh prison located on an island between Vologda and Arkhangelsk, adapted from a XVIIth century monastery. The film is - according to the director - a metaphore of the nowadays Russia.
The Semaine de la critique prize is the only award given to the documetary filmmakers at the Locarno Film Festival, which is considered to be on of the most important festivals in the world. In 2008 the prize was given to Beata Dzianowicz - the director and to Krzysztof Kopczyński - the producer, for the documentary film "Kites".
