Special Mention for "The First Day" in Prague

"The First Day"
Marcin Sauter has received another award for his documentary "The First Day". At he just finished "One World" Documentary Film Festival in Prague the film has received the Mayor of Prague Special Mention Award. The festival took place between the 5-13 of March 2008.
The jury’s verdict to the sophisticated picture: To The First Day, directed by Marcin Sauter, we would like to give a special mention for showing a clear, creative and cinematic story in which, we think, every viewer will go back and remember their own first day of going to school. This Polish film presents a poetic coming-of-age story in a remote part of Russia. But in showing us one of life’s cruelest moments, Marcin also manages to tell the wider story of a Siberian tribe and the so-called advance of civilization.
