Will the director manage to reach and reveal it? One thing is for sure, he manages to break the stereotype of poor Russians making living selling smuggled cigarettes. Yet there is another layer, the director's narration on how virtually impossible it is to break such a stereotype in a film.

Clairvoyant

Featured in the film is Krzysztof Jackowski most famous polish clairvoyant, who works both in Poland and abroad. He lives in Człuchów in northern part of the country with wife and two children. His main interest is tracking down missing people with help of their pictures and clothes. His achievements are backed up by hundreds of documents gathered by the families of the missing and the police. Jackowski tries to explore the secret of clairvoyance and that is why he is constantly developing his parapsychological knowledge. But he still doesn’t know where the gift that he has gained comes from. The film is a documentary about the work of the polish clairvoyant who constantly helps the police and it describes a couple of cases in which his predictions turned out to be true. The author of the documentary Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz takes up a subject of a sociological phenomenon of the interest that Jackowski himself evoked. The clairvoyant has already been a topic of a master’s thesis at the law faculty at Wroclaw University. Serious establishments use Jackowski’s gift not only in order to find missing people, but also while tracking down fat cats of the criminal world. Politicians secretly ask about their chances and businessmen look for advice when it comes to investments.

Information, which spread all over the world on April 23rd, 2005, has become the incipience of this story. The documentary presents the history of two lovers in the eyes of witnesses, reconstructing the tragic occurrence. The author of the film tries to answer what happened on the day of Amina’s death. Amina was killed in circumstances that have been described in varying versions. The investigation defends a thesis that the main cause of the death was heart attack. The main characters of the movie present totally different approaches to the event. The film shows how difficult it is for outsiders to understand the Muslim hierarchy of values. A world, in which nothing is worth less than man’s life.

Political revolution of 1989 was followed by “the other revolution” in Central Europe - unprecedented economic transformation of the Eastern Bloc States – from planned economy to capitalism. Based on individual stories from Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, “The other revolution” depicts everyday life of people facing the sudden possibility to create their own life space and living standards. Economic changes are commented by politicians: Leszek Balcerowicz, Karel Schwarzenberg, Mikulàš Dzurinda, and international financial experts, Camdessus (IMF) and Jean Lemierre (BERD), considering the fact that facing current financial crisis, this capitalism turns out to be quite risky.

The citizens of Oświęcim clearly distinguish Oświęcim from Auschwitz, the city from the concentration camp.
