"The Art of Silence" - Description

For Jerzy Mierzejewski painting is “the art of silence”, with what is visible we are able to reach what is invisible.

Born in 1917 the artist brought into being more then 70 years of metaphysical images, while always being on the sidelines of all modern art fashions. For many years he was a lecturer and a valued dean of the Łódź Film School. He became a true authority for post-war generations of Polish cinematographers and directors.

Jerzy Mierzejewski –a great scholar and a man of an amazing personal charm - is no longer able to work but his mind and consciousness are still very much alive. Meeting with him we discover rich history and creativity of an unusual painter. We explore the mystery of existence and time - between past and present, life and death.
